Vision

Informal Science Education

* * * The Space Science Institute develops major science exhibitions and provides training opportunities in the earth and space sciences for professionals involved in raising the public's awareness of science.

Planning for the Research Community

* * * The Space Science Institute is extensively involved in supporting the research community's effort to develop appropriate programs and proposals in K-12 education and public outreach.

Education Resources for Scientists

* * * Information on education workshops, funding opportunities, education policy, education and outreach planning, and the roles scientists can play in K-12 education.

Education Resources for Teachers

* * * Ready-to-use curriculum materials, resource information and professional development opportunities for educators in the earth and space sciences.

Professional Development for Scientists & Educators

* * * The Space Science Institute is one of the few organizations in the US implementing workshops for scientists and engineers on K-12 science education and the roles they can play in science education reform. SSI also plans science and technology workshops for educators.

Curriculum Materials Development

* * * The Space Science Institute is creating partnerships and programs to produce materials that support and enrich K-12 curriculum in the earth and space sciences.
