Paintings by Dale Darby

Dale is a self-taught artist whose interest in astronomy can be traced back to his early childhood. His professional career as a space artist was born while he was an observatory director at the Henry Grieb Observatory located in the Sierra Nevada mountains. He used to sketch objects with a pencil after looking through the eye piece, and later moved on to pastels and eventually the airbrush. His works have sold throughout Northern California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Hong Kong and Texas. He now lives in Sacramento, California. In addition to extensive exhibitions, he has also given lectures about space and space art for numerous science centers, observatories and other space-related organizations.
