Opportunities at the

Space Science Institute

The Space Science Institute is seeking funded, soft-money researchers as it expands its research programs in Earth studies, planetary science, space physics, and astrophysics.
 
SSI is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation located in Boulder, Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.

Senior and Mid-Level Scientists

Successful candidates will be expected to initiate and sustain research programs in their fields of study. Participation in science education projects (e.g., museum exhibits, curriculum development, teacher training) will be encouraged.

Director of Research

The Director will be expected to initiate and sustain research prgrams and recruit both on-site and off-site researchers. The Director will also be responsible for the overall quality of research programs at the Institute through activities in long-range planning, preparation of initiatives, establishment of policy and priorities, and interaction with funding agencies and with academic and industrial research communities.

The successful applicant should have a Ph.D., an internationally recognized research stature, and 10+ years of relevant experience in the earth and space sciences. A record of obtaining external support and demonstrated administrative effectiveness is required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
